After a long and depressing winter (which included several dramatic snow storms), we couldn't wait to begin planning our garden for the upcoming season. I spent the majority of the winter pouring over seed catalogs making detailed lists of the items I wanted to grow and where to put them in the garden.
There is so much available on the market, it is really difficult to choose, but we eventually narrowed this lists down to old-fashioned varieties of flowers, and heirloom vegetables and herbs.
My favourite seed catalogs to date:
*Seeds of Change
*Thyme Garden
*Territorial Seed Company
*Seed Savers
*Park Seeds
Here is a photo of our seed planter which we began back in January. The photos aren't anything great, but it is interesting to see how quickly things grow! As you can see, our seed starts took over our kitchen. At one point we had four varieties of clematis, and about a zillion sweet peas started in egg cartons.
I also started winter hearty seeds in the ceramic pots we have outside. I planted kale, peas, lettuce and spinach.
